Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

The Ultrasonic Inspection is a valuable method for performing volumetric inspections of structures and components, regardless of their shape and complexity. The use of high-frequency sound waves makes it possible to:

  • Identify internal defects present in the material under examination
  • Measuring the thickness of materials
  • Measure the distance and size of defects

AREAS OF APPLICATION
Of Non-Destructive Ultrasonic Testing.

Ultrasonic Control allows volumetric testing of all materials as long as the attenuation is sufficiently low. It is particularly useful for highlighting cracks in welds and checking the efficiency of joints.

Its applications are many and include finding defects in components such as tubes, plates, axles, gears, cast parts, aircraft and automotive components, and many more:

  • Rolled components; rollers, shafts, drives, press columns

  • Power equipment: turbine forgings, generator rotors, pressure pipelines, assemblies of welded parts, pressure vessels, reactor components

  • Objects armies

  • Aircraft components

  • Railway details
  • Automotive parts

FEATURES DETECTABLE with Ultrasonic Control.

Acoustic impedance changes generated by surface and/or internal defects such as : cracks, inclusions, etc.

FUNCTIONS of Ultrasonic Control.

Rapid deployment-ability to inspect large thicknesses-high sensitivity.

NOTAZIONI Ultrasonic Control

Need for transducer/piece acoustic coupling – inability to inspect high attenuation materials
